Fashion icons flocked to the red carpet for the CFDA Awards on Monday night, however the style stakes weren’t very high. From velvet trousers to bunny shoes, many a style mistake was made by dozens of unsuspecting stars.

Similar to the Met Gala, one of the draws of the CFDA Awards is witnessing the pairing of designer and actress and how that translates to a fashion-forward look.

Normally these incredibly stylish ladies never put a foot wrong but here are the 10 of the most unexpected looks of the night.

1 Lena Dunham

While we’re usually a fan of Lena’s quirky style, her Creatures of the Wind monochrome dress, multicoloured beaded necklace and bunny slippers combination just didn’t work.

2 Hari Nef

This Gucci dress did Hari no favours. The statement panther embellishment and mint whimsical material make the dress almost impossible to pull off, no matter how it’s worn.

3 Bee Shaffer

Anna Wintour’s daughter could have worn any dress she set her sights on, but instead chose a night sky and tree-inspired blue and green gown.

4 Jessica Chastain

The Help actress’ Prabal Gurung leaf-print gown was underwhelming and took away from Jessica’s stunning red hair and pale skin.

5 Zosia Mament

Zosia is never afraid to make a statement, but her black chiffon Maiyet dress and red headband is a 90’s throwback style combo that no one wants to remember.

6 Joan Smalls

Victoria’s secret model Joan Smalls’ short hair debut on the CFDA red carpet made headlines for all of the right reasons, while her beige wrap-around dress made headlines for all of the wrong ones.

7 Adriana Lima

Adriana is usually one of the best dressed at any event, but Marc Jacobs velvet trousers and embellished belly-skimming top make this her worst look yet.

8 Betsey Johnson

Being adventurous is the designer’s strong point, but she missed the mark with this one.

9 Claire Danes

There’s only one question to ask here: What is that embellishment doing on that Calvin Klein Collection dress?

10 Jennifer Hudson

Jennifer’s first outfit of the night was a total miss. If there was a shape to the red panelling, the dress might have worked. Otherwise it looks like the designer ran out of material half-way through and grabbed whatever was on hand. Not a good look.
