Stripes are to summer what shearling is to winter. The warm weather classic has been doing the rounds for several seasons (even decades) now but they're reimagined on an annual basis.

For 2016, multiple layers of stripes, in various alignments, shapes, colours and thickness appeared across more catwalks than you could shake a stick at. High waists on retro striped trousers appeared at Marc Jacobs, while Alexander Wang added a baseball vibe with thickened stripes on longer-length jackets

There's something for everyone this year, with diagonal rainbow stripes at Jonathan Saunders and thick vertical stripes at Dior. Elsewhere, Brit style star Stella McCartney opted for candy colours, while Prada showcased a classic black, white and yellow combo. This is the season to earn your stripes...

One of my favourite style stars at the moment is Gone Girl actress Emily Ratajkowski. She certainly made her mark on the festival scene when she stepped out at Coachella in this boho-chic blue and white strapless dress by Jonathan Simkhai. A fuss-free hairstyle and pared-back make-up completed the pitch-perfect festival look.
