Actress Eva Longoria rocked a modern twist on the Little Black Dress (LBD) at the Telemundo's Premios Tu Mundo Awards last night, executing the look in sizzling black sequins.

The 38-year-old posed for cameras on the red carpet at Miami's American Airlines Arena in a backless mini-dress that hugged her curvaceous figure.

The former 'Desperate Housewives' star was wearing the shimmery number along with a pair of black Christian Louboutin heels and diamond earrings.

The dress consisted of a sheer polka dot panel at the back, showing off the star’s enviable figure.

Her hair was hoisted up into a relaxed curly ponytail and her make-up was subtle with a smokey eye and nude lip.

"So excited to be in Miami for #PremiosTuMundo! Why is it raining?! This will definitely dictate my hair! @kenpaves," she tweeted before the red carpet event.

The classic LBD, introduced by Coco Chanel in the 1920s, can be reworked with different fabrics and designs for a modern twist.

LBD lovers can update the look by adding a pair of creative tights, throwing a tailored jacket over it or adding a serious dose of bling with elegant bracelets and earrings.

Style icon Kate Moss has been spotted donning a little faux-fur jacket to inject a little edginess into her LBD look.

Alternatively you can embellish your little black dress with a brooch or add a bolt of colour with some pillar-box red killer heels.

Celebrity devotees to the LBD include designer Victoria Beckham, actress Jennifer Aniston and Grammy winner Adele.
