Duchess of Cambridge to be US Vogue cover girl?
Anna Wintour has been campaigning to land Britain’s Duchess of Cambridge for the cover of US Vogue.
It has been rumoured that editor-in-chief Anna has approached photographer Mario Testino, who is famed for his photographs of the royals, to try and persuade Catherine to appear in the magazine.
The elegant newlywed has yet to appear on any publication’s cover.
“Anna has been speaking to Mario about winning over Kate,” a source told the New York Post. “She is really pressing him to shoot Kate for the cover.”
Testino’s past work includes his iconic shoot with Diana, Princess of Wales, which he took five months before her tragic death. He has remained a close family friend, taking photographs of both Britain’s Prince William and Prince Harry as they grew up.
The photographer was called in by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to take their official engagement photographs ahead of their highly-anticipated April wedding.
“Every magazine has been trying to get Kate, and many assume it will eventually be Vogue,” the source revealed. “But even with the Mario Testino relationship, it is not clear when this will happen. The Palace must approve it, and they are very protective of Kate.”
The Duchess of Cambridge was approached by British Vogue to be on the cover before her wedding, but Kate declined.
The 29-year-old is famed for her demure and sophisticated style. Her wedding dress was designed by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen and was admired all over the world.
Her support of British designers and of the British high street has made her a style icon.
“There’s nothing trashy or vulgar about her,” Anna has said in the past. “She dresses her age and never looks out of place.”
