Morning sickness in check, the Duchess of Cambridge makes her King's Road comeback for a spot of maternity browsing.

As the world's most famous pregnancy edges into its second trimester (yes, due to the necessity of announcing it at a mere six weeks in, this could yet prove to be the longest gestation in history), the Duchess of Cambridge was happily feeling chipper enough to venture out to the shops again at the weekend.

In what must have come as a huge relief to the shopkeepers of Chelsea's King's Road, (the Duchess and sister Pippa are two of the area's most loyal customers), Kate was back browsing the rails on the hunt for some chic maternity wear on Saturday afternoon.

And thanks to one diligent bystander we can confirm that said Duchess was giving the maternity jeggings in Gap a thorough once-over.

"Everyone in the store seemed to recognise her, but they all gave her space and privacy to shop", our mole told us.

After a not inconsiderable amount of time spent acquainting herself with the stretchy trousers - without proceeding to purchase - she stole a quick look at the BabyGap offering before exiting the store with minder in tow.

Cast no aspersions on Gap's excellent selection of maternity denim however. Kate's merely in that tiresome pregnancy period when your bump is beginning to show and render your waistbands a tight squeeze, but is not quite big enough to warrant a maternity splurge.

For most women, this is the period when they simply look like they over-indulged on Quality Street at Christmas, and crave a decent sized bump to put show off (and Quality Street…).

To be honest, we were eyeing up the maternity jeggings over Christmas simply to enable an increased Quality Street intake, so we feel like we're totally empathising with the Duchess right now.
