Debut issue of Carine Roitfeld's new magazine sells out F
The debut issue of Carine Roitfeld's magazine CR Fashion Book has sold out according to its publishers, Fashion Media Group LLC.
The 50,000 copies printed initially for the mid-September launch have been snapped up at €17.24 a pop, so 15,000 more will be printed in time for Christmas, reports WWD .
The magazine was the first publishing venture for Roitfeld after leaving her post as editor-in-chief of Paris Vogue , which she headed up for 10 years.
The debut issue featured Kate Upton clutching a handful of chicks to her ample chest on the cover, and was themed around 'rebirth' following the arrival of Roitfeld's first grandchild, a little girl named Romy Nicole, during the production process. "When I started to work on this issue … I was obsessed with pregnancy, with babies, with new life coming. It's become an obsession," she said at the time of publication.
As well as high-fashion editorials shot by the likes of Bruce Weber, the publication also include essays from prominent names such as actress Anne Hathaway who wrote about fertility and the changing attitudes towards it.
The second issue of CR will launch during New York Fashion Week in February next year, hitting news-stands internationally by the end of February, and will have a print run of 65,000.
