Dear Stylemma, I have a limited budget. Help me, please!
I'm 17, and have my graduation from school next month. I'm having trouble finding something that's appropriate for a ceremony in the school first, but also something that I can wear out afterwards. I'm 5ft 7in and pear-shaped, and, like all students, I have a limited budget. Help me, please!
See this week's Get the Look, left. Model Vogue Williams is a great example of someone who very successfully dresses a slightly pear-shaped figure (by which we're presuming you mean slightly wider around the hips and upper-thigh area). One thing to note – always err on the side of items that are fitted around the waist. If you're slightly fuller in the hips and thighs, it's best to keep your waist emphasised. Kate Moss's latest collection for Topshop has several dresses with a waist-defining silhouette that would work really nicely. On the budget front, why not buy a dress, and, for the ceremony, team it with a cardi (worn thrown over your shoulders) and some ballet flats – try Penneys for both of these – and then style it up, as they say, for the after-party; see Vogue's leather jacket and cute high heels. You're still at an age where you can carry off skater skirts without looking ridiculous – Warehouse have a few in their sale, so check out the website.
