The Athleisure Effect
The fashion for sportswear-inspired detailing and luxe fabrications continues for spring 2017. This trend is all about high-performance materials and cut-for-movement shapes. The latest round of runway shows offered up some super-cool looks, pushing athleisure into fresh territory.
Utility details, varsity colour combinations and embellishments that directly reference the sports world appeared in abundance. Think sporty outerwear with ruching, bell sleeves or adorned with jewels, wide-leg trousers with side stripes, or frills down tracksuit pants. Donatella Versace gave sportswear a polish with an air of Italian glamour. Drawstrings on anoraks and zip-up sports tops featured alongside colour-blocked leggings and ruched asymmetric mini dresses. East London brand Mother of Pearl kept the trend grounded with branded sweaters and relaxed styling to strike a balance for easy daywear that is also special enough to be dressed up for an occasion.
Dog lovers, rejoice! They’ve also got the ‘Four Legged Friends’ menu, which includes delights such as ‘pup cakes’ (peanut butter treats). There’s a dog spa beside the hotel, too. The Pet Package includes two nights’ B&B for two adults and one pet, priced from €310. See thetwelvehotel.ie
