Time to Reboot

Your best friend come autumn, boots never go out of fashion. From western styles, to high-shine patent finishes, floral appliqués and metallics, there’s a lot to be swooning about this season when it comes to footwear. The ever-faithful ankle boot rocked the autumn/winter 2016 catwalks from Ralph Lauren, Louis Vuitton to Erdem and Dolce & Gabbana. Classic leather boots are still are a firm fixture as one of the most reliable ankle boots of the season, but if you want to be a little more adventurous this winter, opt for luxed-up, high-gloss, high texture ankle boots. In every style — from cool cut-outs, and ladylike shapes, to roughed-up biker styles with chunky soles — 2016’s ankle boots are all about making a statement. Louis Vuitton did just that with a chunky Doc Martin-style lace-up boots with oodles of grunge appeal, which have already captured the attention of style mavens Alicia Vikander and Selena Gomez. Style yours with a full-length, dark floral dress layered under an oversized knit for a cool everyday look.

Emily Blunt looks sensational, above, cutting a stunning figure in this beautifully crafted Alexander McQueen dress. The ‘Girl On The Train’ star wears the heavily embellished dress with intricate floral design as if it was made bespoke for her. A look worth noting as party season approaches!

Top tip

For instant insouciant chic (and leg-lengthening appeal) keep it simple by pairing black, heeled ankle boots with black jeans. Shorter, curvier women should give preference to low-cut boots that don’t cut the leg above the ankle. Ankle boots with a zip at the back are a cinch to throw on.

Fashionable travel

This time of year can be stressful for many so it’s important to remember to press pause and take some ‘me-time’. Indeed, why not take the opportunity to spoil yourself with a pre-Christmas getaway to the Castlemartyr Resort in Cork? The Unwind & Dine package sounds to me like the perfect way to relax and put you on the right step ahead of a busy festive season. The five-star country house hotel is set in 220 acres of mature, rolling parkland with lakes and meandering streams. Dine in the Bell Tower restaurant, with views of the manicured gardens, before enjoying a nightcap by the roaring fire in Knight’s Bar. The Unwind & Dine package is available from €109 per person for one night, and includes overnight accommodation in a Deluxe Room with a full-Irish breakfast and a two-course evening meal in the Bell Tower restaurant. Offer is based on two people sharing and is valid Sunday to Friday until December 23. For more visit castlemartyrresort.ie
