Clever Couture: Prada from catwalk to high street

The Swinging Sixties are enjoying a revival this season and Prada are paving the way. It's the simplest of pieces that define an era and for this decade, it has to be the shift dress. This straight up-and-down, simple shape rebelled against the cinched waists of the 1950s and harked back to the drop waist flapper silhouette of the 1920s.
Of course, Miuccia has made it modern by clashing with snakeskin boots, nude make-up, pulled-back hair and the occasional oversized fur stole.
This dress by Wallis captures the Prada aesthetic perfectly. The palette of mustard and cinnamon tones that are so hot this season are combined with a graphic check print. Worn belted or not, it's loose, easy shape that looks great with a statement knee-high boot.
