Clever Couture: Miu Miu from catwalk to high street

The 1940s was a powerfully elegant era. The likes of Bette Davis, Lauren Bacall and Katharine Hepburn were no shrinking violets with their matte red lips, peep-toe heels and architectural tailored shoulders. It's an aesthetic distinctly in keeping with Miuccia Prada's vision of strong women.
Daisy and lily-of-the-valley prints prettified the bold silhouettes at the Miu Miu show while glitter sprinkled shoe-boots added a touch of sparkle. Fur stoles are essential to the '40s era and Miuccia swathed them across the hips and cupped them over the shoulders. The hip placement would be a challenge to a mere mortal, but sling around the neck and the message is the same; luxe glamour.
This printed pencil dress from Warehouse has the look down to a tee while this aubergine, framed doctors bag and criss-cross heels are the perfect accompaniments.
