A regularly re-hashed debate at the moment involves the pros and cons of living in a recession. People are less obnoxious, more friendly and less money-obsessed in our frugal climate.
The downside is that those deliciously luxurious labels have swung out of reach for many.
Thankfully for those with purses that clench like a clam shell when you so much as consider perusing a designer rail, the high street just keeps getting better and better.
Miu Miu is one of those labels that is rarely used to 'inspire' high-street creations due to its quirky, not so mass-market appeal. Well, we salute you River Island.
These cherry print heels available in midnight blue or powder pink are more than we could have hoped for. Generously embellished with crystal studs, their 1940s shape and double ankle strap make them look like a treasured find from a hideaway vintage store in Manhattan's lower east side. They are such a statement piece that you could couple them with a meagre black bag and still look fabulous.
