Clever Couture: Marc by Marc Jacobs from catwalk to high street

Marc by Marc Jacobs has always had a layer-on-layer, street vibe to it. An inspirational style that could be mimicked well with regular perusals to vintage and charity shops.
But fashion is making a move towards a cleaner look and Mr Jacobs is of course paving the way. Outfits for the SS12 show consisted of an oversized white shirt simply accessorised with shades, a tote and wedges or a sleeveless bright orange shift with nothing more than ankle-strap sandals. Pared back is definitely the way forward.
This sweatshirt and shorts combo picks up on the cool sportswear trend that promises to be so hot for the season.
The balanced colour palette plays with marl grey to bring the bright tangerine down a notch while the multi-coloured hi-tops are the real focal point. This eye-catching pair from River Island have got the look nailed while the emerald green, nylon shopper by Baggu adds to the sporty feel.
