Clever couture: Luella from catwalk to high street

London-based designer Luella Bartley is always up for a bit of fun. Her current collection is a lot more minimal than in previous seasons but the quirky hair bows, Queen Mum handbags and fresh-as-a-daisy colour palette keep it girlie as ever. Lemon yellow, cornflower blue, ruby red and candy pink come with a dose of bold polka dots.
Channelling a 1960s silhouette with nipped waist and panier skirt, the retro edge adds personality. Make-up is nude bar a heavy slick of bright colour across the lid. This look is about dressing-up box chic, taking a trend from the past and bringing it back up to date with playful styling.
Despite the fact that her label has now ceased trading, Luella's influence lives on.
