Clever Couture: Dries Van Noten from catwalk to highstreet

Collaging prints and textures in a refined manner is what Belgian designer Dries Van Noten is renowned for. Embroidered sleeves, fur collars and shimmering brocades are juxtaposed with abstract florals and graphic constructivist-style prints.
Colours are understated with glimmering flashes of muted brights. For the catwalk, hair was loosely tied back, clasped with a golden ring while snakeskin and zebra footwear added an exotic edge.
It's a busy aesthetic that requires precision fine-tuning to keep it looking sophisticated and stylishly eccentric rather than crossing the line to bag-lady chic.
This cropped kimono from River Island with contrasting prints and ochre trim interprets the Dries style beautifully.
Team with palazzo trousers if you have the height or simple skinnies for a more streamlined silhouette.
