Clever Couture: Chanel from catwalk to high street
One of the more obscure trends this season is 'water world', which incorporates everything from mermaid motifs at Versace to vibrant tropical seascape prints at Mary Katrantzou and python-skin heels that look like tropical fish scales from Louboutin. But, as usual, no one pulls out the stops like Chanel.
The Grand Palais in Paris was transformed into a white underwater world with huge coral and shell props. For the clothes; iridescent fabrics, pearl detailing, conch-shell clutch bags and wave-like ruffles featured strongly.
Here, a version of the iconic tweed jacket is simply updated with neatly tailored shorts, a frill-front blouse and ankle boots. A crochet coral bag gives a nod to the oceanic trend.
As for the hair? How beautiful! Wet-look, slicked back and dotted with pearls.
Accessorize have pearl slides that are an easy way to emulate the look.
