Clever couture: Alexander Wang from catwalk to high street

The New York-based designer, Alexander Wang is a hot talking point on every street chic lip from Manhattan to Tokyo. Having recently collaborated with Gap, the high-street chain's clean and classic look clearly provided him with inspiration.
This season, he took the idea of sportswear and has given it an edge like it's never seen before. Denim, khaki cotton, leather and grey jersey give the collection a rawness that stands out in the current sea of spring bling and ruffles. Utilitarian-style tailoring provides a sharpness beside the soft stretch jersey pieces.
Waist-length, dishevelled plaits and pared back make-up keep the look low-key while knee-high socks with cut-out calves at the back coupled with peep-toe shoes boots give the look an impossibly cool finish.
