Cheap chic: SWOPSHOP's Autumn collection
Published 07/09/2010 | 09:00
SWOPSHOP is still something of an insider secret - the perfect way to declutter your wardrobe and pick up some new threads on a budget.
The SWOPSHOP team have just launched their second Autumn-Winter collection and have put together a stunning photoshoot to showcase a small selection of the items on offer.
Following on from Spring-Summer's ‘Alice in Wonderland’ themed shoot, they have concluded the story in a photoshoot adaptation of the ‘Alice’ sequel, ‘Through the Looking Glass’.
Items featured in the collection will be available instore from Tuesday 7th September at SWOPSHOP, Crow Street Bazaar, Crow Street, Dublin 2.
For those of you unfamiliar with the SWOPSHOP concept, founder Adèle Geoghegan was inspired by childhood memories of a local secondhand clothes shop and the swopping crazes of the recession-hit 1980s.
Instead of paying high street or designer prices, SWOPSHOP customers can swop items they no longer wear for ones they will – things that are effectively new to the wearer. On like-for-like swops, a modest service charge will be incurred, but you can also upgrade your swops by paying extra.
You can be assured that you are getting a genuine bargain too - the SWOPSHOP crew insist all goods must be in immaculate condition, reasonably seasonal, and not dated in style.
Items not accepted for swopping include budget brands (such as Primark), bridal and formal wear, beachwear, lingerie and sportswear.
If you're intrigued and would like to give swopping a go, SWOPSHOP advise that intending customers bring five to ten items to build up credit to 'finance' their swops. Owing to the strict acceptance criteria, not all items brought may be accepted by SWOPSHOP.
Don't forget that everything you bring should be freshly laundered and ironed, unless it is unworn (and how many of us have 'mistakes' hanging accusingly in our wardrobes...)
What if you don't see anything you like when you visit? Not to worry, you can simply keep store credit for next time or get a 'Pimp My Wardrobe' gift voucher for a friend.
