Bill Gaytten is Galliano creative director
Bill Gaytten has been named as new creative director of the John Galliano label.
The designer, who has worked closely with former creative director John for 23 years, said that he is curious to find out what his former boss thinks of his replacement.
The 51-year-old sounded casual when he described his feelings about his new role, saying that he is used to doing the job.
"It's the same job for me; I've been doing it for a long time," he told WWD.
Christian Dior CEO Sidney Toledano credited the British fashion creative with overseeing the brand’s latest menswear collection from conception to catwalk, explaining that Bill "has been leading the design team" at John Galliano.
Bill said he couldn’t wait to hear what the fashion icon – who was removed from the John Galliano label earlier this year - thought of his work.
"[The menswear show] was a bit different because John wasn't there. I'm dying to know what he thinks," he said.
John was sacked from his eponymous label back in April following accusations of anti-Semitic behaviour. He was arrested in February following an argument in the Marais area of Paris during which he allegedly made anti-Semitic remarks, and another complaint followed related to an incident in October 2010.
He appeared in court last Wednesday where he faced charges of public assault and is currently in rehab.
