"I'm 32 (size 10/12) and going to a friend’s wedding in Spain at the end of the month. Should I wear a full-length dress or go for something shorter? I live in black but am determined to stay away from it. I've got €250 to spend."

When looking for the perfect dress to wear to a wedding, I'd go for something versatile that can easily be transformed into a fabulous party dress with a simple change of shoes and accessories.

The weather in Spain will likely be warm but cooler in the evening so keep this in mind when you’re shopping. Go for a dress that can be layered with a bolero, sequinned shrug or tailored jacket is a good option and can also mix up the day-to-night look, particularly handy if you're travelling with stingy Ryanair.

Length-wise, there are no rules as such but I would steer clear of anything too short or revealing. Just above the knee is probably the shortest you should go to keep it demurely feminine and wedding appropriate, it can still be sexy!

As a size 10/12, you've got plenty of scope to try out a variety of dress shapes and styles. Nude tones are fabulous for weddings, just team with a structured blazer, statement heels and accessories to ensure you don't look like you're attempting to upstage the bride.

Maxi dresses are also a chic option for a wedding and a key trend moving into autumn/winter; especially ones that feature statement bold prints. The maxi dress is easy to wear, flatters most body types, is ultra feminine and can easily be dressed up with heels, a smart tailored jacket and accessories.

Lace is great for occasion wear and ultra elegant. It's also bang on trend this season. Go for something belted to accentuate the figure and to add a more a contemporary and contrasting edge to the lace look.

All of these options fall under your €250 budget which leaves some cash spare for a jacket, shoes and accessories!
