I have extremely skinny legs and have shied away from skirts and dresses for as long as I can remember. Really feel like I’m missing out on tons of cute trends. Any suggestions?
Lucky you, a problem most girls would kill for! Your instinct may be to conceal your legs in trousers but it often draws attention to them. You may be tempted to hide behind baggy jeans and trousers but this will only accentuate your slimness. With trousers, opt for slim fit or this season's cigarette pants which will show off your figure. Team them with longer tops and loose blouses to add volume and bulk out the silhouette. Look for lighter colours like greys and beiges which will make you appear bigger.
Another tip is to layer up. A skirt and tights combo instantly detracts attention from the leg. Again, you can go for grey or patterned tights rather than the usual black. Choose fitted dresses and avoid puffy styles that your legs will tend to get lost in. Throw on a long cardi or jacket over you skirts.
On the shoe front, most styles will suit. A statement shoe will directly draw focus to your foot. This season try the shearling boot as seen at Burberry. Tuck your skinnies in, add a great coat and your legs become an asset rather than a problem. River Island, Kurt Geiger and Next all have great versions.
Skinny ankles are perfect for the rolled-up jeans-ankle boots-short sock look I’m loving right now. Go for cute, quirky styles as seen at Marni and Marc Jacobs or add thick wintery socks for a “Great Outdoors” feel. For a laid-back approach try a skirt with a frilly ankle sock and Converse.
