I like the cable knit trend around at the moment but I’m big in the bust and afraid it will make me look enormous and out of proportion. Any style tips?

Winter is on the horizon so it’s time to start bundling up, and nothing says winter more stylishly than the cable knit. It is one of the most versatile trends on the catwalk this season whether worn casually or dressed up. Heavy knits, slouchy cardigans, scarves and socks all featured so if you’re looking for a bit of cable action there’s plenty to choose from.

A cardigan is definitely a good option if you are bigger on the bust. You can keep it chunky but wear it open, belted and with a fine tee underneath. This will instantly draw the eye down and reduce your top half. Avoid cropped styles, the extra length is essential to elongate your mid section. Don’t be afraid to use the belt provided on longer cardigans or add your own-skinny, leather and knotted-highlighting a small waist is always good!

If you’re inspired by Louis Vuitton and only a jumper will do, go for a slightly finer knit rather than chunky Aran sweaters. While a V-neck is not really part of this look you should be going for something with a soft neckline, steer clear of anything too stiff or high. Embrace your curves al la Mad Men and add a mid length skirt for the perfect ladylike look.

If you’re a more subtle creature and just want a dash of the trend try a knitted hat, mitten or gloves, a scarf or some chunky socks. Topshop have done great versions of all of these.
