Anna Wintour, the editor of American Vogue, has passed on her management skills to her daughter, Bee Shaffer.

As the fearsome editor of American Vogue, Anna Wintour inspired Meryl Streep's character in The Devil Wears Prada. At home, the British-born journalist has trained her daughter Bee Shaffer, 23, to impose her reign of terror.

"We can actually sleep 40 people," Wintour says of her retreat in Long Island, New York. "Bee is in charge of assigning bedrooms, and heaven forbid you treat her poorly, or you'll find yourself sleeping in a closet."

The property, which features in the October edition of World of Interiors, has been used for numerous celebrations, but Wintour says of her children: "Charlie and Bee have now banned weddings at the house. They want to preserve it for their own some day."
