The students of New Cross College Clondalkin were left shaken and stirred after their “James Bond meets The Oscars” themed debs night.

Having congregated at the school gates, the graduating year of 2015 hopped aboard coaches and made their way to Dunboyne Castle Hotel in Meath.

The debs committee had enlisted the help of Debs Ireland to organise the glamorous and glitzy do.

“There was a red carpet and giant Oscar statuettes,”  Roisin O’Connor told the Herald.

“It really added to the atmosphere. It was better than anything I had imagined.”

There was plenty of sparkle on the red carpet with ladies opting for striking gowns and glimmering jewels while the gents went for eye-catching suits.

Having admired each other’s ensembles, guests enjoyed a champagne reception before tucking into a three-course dinner.

The Debs Awards were a highlight for many, with Best Laugh going to Shayla Fortune. Then it was time to hit the dance floor.

“The DJ played a great mix of songs, everyone was jumping around and having a great night,” said Roisin.

Many girls regretted bringing sky-high heels but, thankfully, there were ballet pumps for sale at the nightclub.

“They were a real life saver,” Roisin said. “I think most girls were delighted to ditch the shoes.”

Things got a little nostalgic when the DJ played Vitamin C’s 1999 hit single Graduation (Friends Forever).

“The nicest part of the night was catching up with friends and hearing what everyone had been up to since the Leaving Cert,” Roisin said. “It definitely felt a little nostalgic.”

Students tucked into a breakfast buffet before the coaches arrived to cart them back home to Dublin.

“I was exhausted by the end of the night,” Alex Farrell said. “But it had been such an great night it was worth it.”
