Princess Beatrice ends her 10 year romance with boyfriend David Clark of whom Prince William did not approve
It was thought that another Royal Wedding could be on the cards, but Princess Beatrice has reportedly ended her ten-year long relationship with her boyfriend David Clark.
The split comes as a surprise as 27-year-old Beatrice recently moved to the US to accompany David (32) as he took on a role at Uber.
Speaking to The Daily Mail, a source said: "After ten years together, Beatrice and Dave had to wonder why they were not married.”
"They talked it through and decided to take time apart to reflect on the future. They remain friends and the decision to break up was mutual."
It has long been speculated that Beatrice’s Royal Family did not approve of David, who did not receive an invitation to Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding in 2011.
In 2015, a source said that William in particular had an aversion to David and did not think he was a suitable match for his cousin.
“William isn't a huge fan of Dave. It's fair to say that if Beatrice had asked the Queen for permission to marry Dave, and she in turn asked William privately for his view, she may not have been given a glowing report.”
“Dave is a nice guy and he makes Beatrice happy, which is important. But William has always been wary of him. There is a clash of personalities.”
Since the birth of Princess Charlotte, Beatrice no longer requires the Queen’s permission to marry, and reports suggest there was extra pressure on David to propose throughout the past year.
A source said of the pair: “They both agreed that with no marriage in their future, it was time to go separate ways."
