Model Shauna Lindsay (21) revealed she has been targeted online for the way she looks and said she was judged harshly when she first started model- ling.

"I'm criticised about my body or how I look because I'm a model," she said.

"Nasty comments are made on a daily basis under my photos.

"My photos have been stolen and posted on an adult porno- graphy site and I've had to deal with numerous fake profiles pretending to be me."

She told the Herald she is always horrified to hear of young people taking their own lives because of bullying.

"I hear about it every day and it's heartbreaking. I really want to get the message out that there is help out there," she said.

Shauna has been working as a model for the past three years, becoming the face of Gosh cosmetics and then winning Miss Limerick in 2013.

But the Andrea Roche model, who dated Murray for a few months earlier this year, said that stepping into the spotlight has come with a high price.

"I've been physically bullied, verbally bullied and bullied online," she said.

"We cannot get away with people destroying each other's lives for their own amusement.

"We should be supporting each other, not destroying each other."

Shauna has supported suicide prevention organisation Pieta House for years, she said, and urged anyone in need of help to reach out and get support.

"Please talk to someone if something is bothering you. Don't ever feel that you are on your own," she said.

Shauna has managed to develop a tough skin from working in the industry, and said she is much better equipped to deal with negative comments now.

"Luckily, this industry has made me strong and I try not to let these things faze me any more," she said.

"When I was younger they definitely had more of an impact on me and shook my confidence severely.

"It costs nothing to be nice, and if you've got nothing nice to say, don't say anything."

Shauna is currently in San Francisco visiting friends before travelling to LA where she has some top-level meetings about possible modelling jobs.

"I'll be just doing a few shoots and some other cool stuff," she said.
