Mad Men star Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt confirm split after 18 years
Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt have split.
The 44-year-old actor and his 45-year-old partner have been plagued by rumours surrounding the state of their relationship for several months.
And on Monday, the couple confirmed that they made the mutual decision to end their romance after 18 years together.
"With great sadness, we have decided to separate, after 18 years of love and shared history," the couple told People.com in a joint statement. "We will continue to be supportive of each other in every way possible moving forward."

The pair were last seen together at a Netflix event in New York on July 22.
News of the couple’s split comes after Jon confirmed earlier this year that he had entered rehab for a 30-day stint to seek help for his alcohol addiction.
At the time, Jon credited Jennifer for having been incredibly supportive during his period in the treatment centre. It was also reported that she was instrumental in helping him make the decision to seek help.

Jon and Jennifer had been regulars on the red carpet together, and rarely made a secret of their love for one another.
Speaking last year, Jon told People how lucky he felt to have found Jennifer.
"Our lives are entwined," he said. "It's a long time [together]. I'm definitely the guy that repeats his stories! Mostly it's just paying attention and keeping engaged and not succumbing to inertia or going through the motions.”

Jennifer and Jon met in 1997, but never married.
In a previous interview, Jon revealed he isn’t against marriage, but he believes it wouldn’t work for them.
"I'm not against it; marriage works for a lot of people - they call it an intuition for a reason," he told British magazine Grazia. "I think everyone should be able to get married - or not. Gay, straight, knock yourself out; if that's your jam, do it."
As well as a personal relationship, Jon and screenwriter Jennifer also have a working one, having joined forces on 2011 movie Friends with Kids.
