It seems like only yesterday that Karen Koster welcomed her son Finn, but the Xpose front woman said she’s not daunted about having two babies close together.
The 35-year-old announced last week that she was five months pregnant with her second child with her husband John Maguire.
“Having them close together was always kind of the plan,” she told the Diary.
“Although, I’m still going ‘I was just pregnant, how can I be pregnant again?’
“I feel I’ve spent two years like an elephant but, you know what, I’m in the zone, everything is ready to go.”
“All I need is a double buggy and another cot, plus Finn’s a really good baby, so I’m hoping the next one follows in his footsteps,” she added.
While she couldn’t wait to show off her bump in some stylish maternity wear last time, the Dubliner is keen is stay in her normal clothes for as long as possible.
“On my first pregnancy I was dying to get into maternity stuff because I was just so excited about being pregnant,” she said.
“I was only six weeks gone and I was in maternity jeans whereas now I remember how long I was in those for.
“Like you’re in them for weeks – even after the baby is born – so I’m trying to put that off as long as possible.
“Maternity style is a lot better now, but I’m trying to wear as much of the normal gear as I can so I have lots of sweater dresses and lots of stuff that will stretch with me.
“But don’t get me wrong, I love those stretch jeans,” she added.
Karen said she feels very “blessed” as she hasn’t suffered with any morning sickness or other common pregnancy problems.
“I feel the exact same, only I’ve had scans to show there’s a baby and my belly is getting bigger, I could be quite happy to put that down to croissants,” she said.
“I’m really lucky, I haven’t had any sickness at all.”
“I’m a little bit tired, but that’s more to do with the other baby we have running around the place,” she added.
She has a few months to go yet, but Karen said she’s delighted she’ll be off next summer.
“I’m due in March and we’ll see how it goes about going back to work, but being off during the summer with a small baby is brilliant,” she said.
