He might have risen to fame as Frank Underwood’s evil right hand man in the Netflix series House of Cards, but Michael Kelly was all smiles as he celebrated his birthday in Dublin this weekend.
The actor, who plays Doug Stamper in the hit series, spent the weekend exploring the capital and happily posed for selfies with adoring fans along the way.
Kelly was pictured enjoying Guinness in O’Donoghue’s Pub on Merrion Row where he even got behind the bar to pull a few pints.
“I’m hitting pubs in Dublin this weekend and I’m beyond excited,” he tweeted.
The star was also spotted soaking up the city in Trinity College and Dublin Castle this weekend.
In the past, Kelly has spoken of his Irish ancestry and admitted it is something he is very proud of.
“My grandfather came over on a boat to the States and ended up in Philadelphia. He originally came from Donegal,” he said.
This is the actor's first visit to Ireland.
