Harry's new love Meghan Markle set to meet William and Kate for the first time
Prince Harry's girlfriend Meghan Markle is poised to meet the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge for the first time this weekend after it emerged she has been staying at Kensington Palace this week.
The American actress was photographed shopping on Kensington High Street in London on Thursday before walking back to the Palace, where she is understood to have spent several days.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who also live at Kensington Palace when they are in London, are spending this weekend in the capital to take part in Remembrance events, giving Prince Harry the perfect opportunity to introduce Miss Markle to his brother and sister-in-law, as well as Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
Harry was clearly in a good mood as he stopped to chat to schoolchildren yesterday. Their teaching assistant Emma Shelley, said: "It's great he's got a new girlfriend. He seems very happy and upbeat, which is fantastic. We wholly support it."
Despite the huge interest shown in the couple, Miss Markle is understood to have been in London for several days before she was spotted.
Sources said she and the Prince had left the Palace several times but managed to slip out unnoticed.
It has been reported that Miss Markle arrived in London on Tuesday, the day Prince Harry released a statement confirming their relationship and appealing for privacy. Miss Markle put out a similar appeal for privacy through her lawyers on the same day.
Kensington Palace refused to say when Miss Markle arrived in the country, or whether she would still be there this weekend.
However, the fact that she has been staying at Kensington Palace less than a fortnight after Prince Harry returned from visiting her home in Canada provides further evidence of how serious their relationship is.
Prince Harry (32) will embark on a two-week tour of the Caribbean on behalf of the Queen on November 20, and clearly could not wait until his return on December 4 to be reunited with Miss Markle.
The 35-year-old Californian took a break from filming the US legal drama Suits to visit Harry, after reportedly telling her bosses she had "something important to do".
She is expected to return to Toronto to finish filming next week.
