Get the look: Maria Walsh
Maria Walsh's pixie crop isn't something that everyone could pull off, but her outfit certainly is.
A duster coat is the perfect thing to throw on with jeans and a top to instantly add a bit of easy elegance. It's also the ideal trans-seasonal garment for when it's too soon to wear a winter coat, but too risky to leave home without some sort of extra layer. One simple, eye-catching piece of jewellery is always a good way of lifting an outfit from just 'jeans and a top' to something a little more interesting.
I love the suede-skirt look that's around at the moment - however, I'm finding a lot them are mini-skirt length, which is a little too short for me. I'd love something knee-length.
Answer: We would advise avoiding anything too blatantly 1970s, as it will look dated once that decade falls out of favour. Our favourite suede skirt at the moment is a black, knee-length suedette skirt from Zara, €49.95. It's a full, gathered skirt, completely bucking the trend for the A-line, button-fronted 1970s style. And the fact that it's black, and suedette, means you won't be constantly worrying about it getting marked. Mango has a brown suede skirt, €119.95, which is slightly high-waisted, with a straight, almost pencil-skirt silhouette.
