Dublin footballer Bernard Brogan has revealed his relationship secret which has seen him through two years with his girlfriend Kiera Doyle.
The GAA star revealed that opposites certainly do not attract and believes the couple’s interest in sport has brought them closer.
“She’s a sport-mad girl. She was a great basketball player and swimmer and loves the GAA and rugby, so she loves the journey,” Bernard told The Irish Sun.
“We go to some great matches and have great craic.”
The footballer revealed that making time for one another, despite their busy schedules is the key to their relationship success.
“We always make time [for each other]. She’s nearly working more than me. We’re two busy professionals, but we always make time at the end of the evening or on the weekends,” he said.
Bernard revealed that the pair don’t go out “messing” often as his rigorous training schedule puts a dampener on the boozy nights out.
“Obviously when I’m training there is not much partying or drinking so it’s just normal stuff – cinema and watching films. It’s just nice, no major messing,” he said.
The couple, who have been together for two years, could be walking down the aisle in the not-so distant future as Bernard admitted he was keen to tie the knot “at some stage”.
“[Kiera]’s always there bringing me right back down to earth,” he said.
