Fantastic Mrs Knox: Coronas star Graham Knox engaged to girlfriend Aoife McCormick
Coronas bassist Graham Knox has asked his long-term girlfriend Aoife McCormick to marry him over the Bank Holiday Weekend.
The couple, who have been dating for several years, became engaged this weekend perhaps to the disappointment of the band’s most devoted fans.
Graham, often called ‘Knoxy’, shared a photograph of the pair posing above London’s Thames after he popped the question.
In the picture the beaming couple show off Aoife’s newest accessory with London’s Tower Bridge in the background.
The Irish band is set to celebrate their tenth anniversary this year and while Graham’s love life seems to be on track, lead singer Danny O’Reilly revealed that his bandmates don’t mind his songs about heartbreak.
“I’m not ashamed to say that I’ve been heart broken in the last couple of years,” he told The Sunday World.
“And I’m definitely not ashamed to sing about it. Writing about it was therapy for me. I feel comfortable writing stuff that moves me and makes me passionate.
“I think the best songs are the ones that come from an emotional place.
“I was always a very honest songwriter and I never try to sugar coat it or hide my feelings. Love it or hate it, that’s just the way I am.
“The lads are happy with the themes I’m writing about. I remember doing the running order for the album and saying to them, ‘that’s three break-up songs in a row, is that ok?’
“And the lads were just laughing ‘yeah we’ve been listening to you sing them for ages, of course it’s okay,” he said.
“It has done me a world of good writing the album. I also enjoy getting to sing and perform the songs. I get a kick out of touring live so I definitely use it as therapy.
“I’m very lucky like that.”
