Donal Skehan weds Swedish love Sofie in intimate Irish ceremony
Irish chef Donal Skehan wed his long term partner Sofie Larrson during an intimate Irish ceremony on Saturday.
The happy couple married yesterday in a small private ceremony attended by friends and family.
The joyous occasion was watched by over 30 of Sofie's relatives who have travelled over from Sweden for the wedding. There was a large gathering of the couple's Irish friends and family, headed up by his parents, Dermot and Liz.
The couple were joined at the afters by their border collie/jack russell cross Max, who often features on the Kitchen Hero’s social media accounts.
"Max has a new little collar and is coming to the afters," explained Donal earlier this week.
The pair have been together since 2006, when Donal met Swedish Sofie when she was visiting his native Howth.
The chef was accompanied at the altar by his best friend Jonathon who served as his best man.
Photos of the bride and groom have yet to emerge although wedding guest Michele McGrath shared a group photo from the wedding, including the beaming groom.
Although the photos have yet to be revealed, the bride's dress is said to have come from Sweden and Donal got his suit from Ted Baker.
"I'm really looking forward to spending time with Sofie as I only got home last week after filming a TV series in five countries in four weeks," said Donal earlier this week.
Speaking to the RTE Guide earlier this summer, the chef revealed that he would not be going near the food at his wedding.
"I won't be going near the food for my wedding – we have very good friends who have a restaurant in Drogheda called the Eastern Seaboard and they're going to be looking after it for us," he said.
"I'll be just back from filming around Europe so I'm looking forward to completely relaxing and leaving that end of things in their capable hands.
"What we've gone for with the food is a very relaxed, family-style dinner rather than silver service,” he said.
