Courteney Cox wants her ex David Arquette to walk her down the aisle at wedding to Irish rocker
Most people never want to see their ex again but it has been reported that Courtney Cox is keen for her ex-husband David Arquette to walk her down the aisle later this year when she marries Johnny McDaid.
The actress believes it “feels natural” for her ex-husband to give her away when she marries the Snow Patrol musician.
The former Friends actress got engaged to Johnny in June 2014 after less than a year of dating. The 50-year-old was previously married to David Arquette for 11 years and it seems her ex will play a significant role in her next wedding too.
“Courteney has asked David to walk her down the aisle at her wedding,” an insider told Closer.
“Her father passed away in 2001 and she’s been telling friends it feels natural for David to ‘give her away’ given how close they are and how happy they’ve been for each other to move on.”
Courteney and David tied the knot in June 1999 and welcomed daughter Coco in June 2004. But in October 2010 the couple announced their separation and then David filed for divorce in June 2012.
However the exes have remained extremely amicable throughout their split and the 43-year-old recently supported her at the premiere of her new movie Just Before I Go.
Courteney revealed in April how her daughter wants to plan her nuptials to Johnny and it’s believed her plans to have David play a key role in the ceremony will delight the ten-year-old.
“Coco wants to be involved in the wedding and Courteney knew how thrilled she’d be to have her dad playing such a big part," the source added.
Meanwhile Johnny, 38, has started to get used to his future wife being so close with her ex, and him being the man to give her away.
“Johnny found their friendship odd at first, but Courteney gave him a list of heartfelt reasons why she wanted him to walk her down the aisle, and now he has a deeper understanding of their relationship,” the insider added.
