Yvonne Connolly will be combining business with pleasure when she's whisked off to Jamaica this weekend by her other half John Conroy.

She revealed that her award-winning cinematographer boyfriend is gearing up to start filming a new big-budget movie with his pal, actor Idris Elba.

The Wire star will be making his directorial debut with a new movie, set on the holiday island entitled Yardie, and has picked John as a leading member of his camera crew.

Filming has already begun in London, and the crew are getting ready for the Caribbean.

"I've been great, I'm really busy. I'm heading to Jamaica on Sunday so I'm really excited about that," said Yvonne.

"John is working on a project over there with Idris. It's a thing called Yardie and Idris is directing it and starring in it too.

"They were out in Jamaica recently doing recces and they were shooting in London, so I've heard all about it and I can't wait to go out there. I think the movie's going to be really good."

Based on the 1992 debut novel by Victor Headley, the film will tell the story of a young Jamaican man who goes on a quest for justice after the murder of his brother.

Meanwhile, Yvonne said she's loving her role on TV3's The Six O'Clock Show amid speculation that she may be lined up to fill Lucy Kenn-edy's shoes.

Mum-of-three Lucy is currently filming the second series of Living With Lucy and isn't sure if she'll return to the evening chat show.

Samantha Mumba was filling in for her previously, but Yvonne has now become a regular guest presenter and said the casual nature of the work suits her perfectly.

"I was on it last night and it's such a relaxed show," she said. "I enjoy going in there and having fun and I've no commitments either. I don't have a contract with them which suits me, because then I can work with other people too.

"I can present and cook and just feel more footloose and fancy-free. Saying that, I never turn them down. Anything they ask me to do, I'm like 'Absolutely, I'm up for anything', and they're great craic.

"Lucy is brilliant. I didn't hear about her not going back, but she's so busy with Living With Lucy and everything else."

The former model was on hand yesterday to help launch the Kellogg's GAA Cul Camps with a cook-off among sporting stars in l'Ecrivain.

Yvonne said that while she's vigilant about what her three children eat, she isn't super-strict.

"I'm very health-conscious, but I also do believe in balance as well. My kids do get treats. They eat healthy but they get treats because they're very active kids," she said.
