School is nearly out for the summer, but lecturer and broadcaster Aoibhinn Ni Shuilleabhain has revealed she will be as busy as ever over the coming months.

Former Rose of Tralee Aoibhinn (31), who works as a lecturer in the school of mathematical sciences in UCD, admitted she's going to be busy this summer as she returns to our screens.

"We're recording the fourth series of The Science Squad over the summer and I'll be doing another series of the Fleadh. It's busy, but they're two things that are close to my heart," she told the Diary.

The Mayo native admitted it can be tough to juggle her lecturing duties with her broadcasting jobs.

While she loves her presenting roles, the former Celebrity Bainisteoir said she would always chose the classroom over the camera.

"It's busy, but [presenting] is not something that I've ever looked at as a full time job and I'm quite happy to keep it as a sideline.

"I've been working in TV for the last 10 years and in all that time I've been working as a teacher, doing my PHD and now I'm working as a full-time lecturer."

With her passion for imparting knowledge, brainbox Aoibhinn couldn't be happier with her lecturing gig.

"I still have my fingers in a lot of things but my full-time job will always be education and that's something I feel strongly about," she said.

"I'm very privileged to work [in UCD] and I've many friends there as well as colleagues, so it's a job I really enjoy doing," she said.

As she gears up to present another series of The Science Squad on RTE, Aoibhinn said it's a way for her to mix her hobby of presenting with her love for science.

Speaking at the launch of Carphone Warehouse's new comparison website, the former Rose said: "I love talking about science in the media and promoting it, especially with the research which is happening in Ireland right now."

The same goes for the Fleadh, with trad-mad Aoibhinn saying: "I've grown up with it and I play trad music, so I love that as well."

Aoibhinn hit the headlines late last year when she split from long-term love and fellow broadcaster, Ryan Tubridy.

Neither Aoibhinn nor Ryan have commented on the split since it was announced before Christmas in a joint statement.
