Kendall Jenner has deleted her Instagram account - here's why.

Kendall (20) received backlash following a recent Vogue shoot, which is believed to be the reason she deleted her account.

Fans were alerted that Kendall's account was no longer active when they went to visit her page to be greeted with: "Sorry, this page isn't available."

Kendall, who has built a career as a model over recent years, received considerable backlash when she posed as a ballerina for a photoshoot in the Vogue Spain September issue.

Professional ballerinas were less than impressed with Kendall's imitation of the art, with some saying that the shoot was "offensive."

Kendall wrote a response to the criticism on her app, saying she simply did what was asked of her.

"With my Vogue Spain shoot, I didn’t even know I was going to be a ballerina until I went into hair and makeup,' she said.

"I never said I knew ballet and I didn’t practice beforehand. I just show up to do my job!"

However, Kendall has before taken a break from social media after seeing friends and family become obsessed with it, leaving the option that she is just taking a break.

"I definitely have close friends, and even some family members, who are so connected to their phone and can't get off of it," she said in an interview with Allure.

"That was the moment it kind of clicked for me. And I didn't like it. So sometimes I delete Instagram or Twitter or Snapchat off my phone for a couple days."

The second-youngest Kardashian sister is one of the most followed people on the photo sharing app, with a photo of her laying on the floor with her hair shaped into hearts receiving over three million likes last year, making it the most liked photo of the year.

Here's hoping Kendall is taking a social media detox and will be back on our feeds soon.
