Radio DJ Louise McSharry has spoken of her joy and "total disbelief" at discovering she is pregnant following her battle with cancer.
Louise revealed that she and husband Gordon Spierin are expecting their first child despite being told by doctors that their chances of conceiving were not good.
The 32-year-old confirmed she was due to give birth this autumn. The 2fm DJ battled Hodgkin's Lymphoma for nearly a year and is currently in remission following the cancer battle.
Opening up about her news on her blog, Louise (pictured inset) said she was delighted to "have beaten the odds".
The popular host said she was prepared for the worst when it came to her fertility as "the treatment which had saved my life had also decimated my egg count".
"We are delighted and a bit terrified at the prospect of becoming proper adults, but I gather that's a normal way to feel. We are also incredibly grateful that we have beaten the odds," she said.
Louise had been prepared for an uphill battle to try and conceive naturally. She said she found out she was pregnant just weeks after telling her closest friends she had been told it was likely she would not be able to carry a child.
"We spent the seven weeks between finding out and going for a scan in total disbelief, barely telling anyone, and trying not to get our hopes up. This wasn't meant to have happened!
"Then, last week, we saw our baby wriggling around on a screen in The Rotunda, and now there is simply no denying it."
