The 41-year-old Irish singer posted a heartfelt message on her Facebook account yesterday evening to let her fanbase know of the break-up.

"As you can imagine we are very sad but happy we're making the right decision for us and our daughter who is doing really well by the way," the rockabilly musician wrote.

Liberties-native Imelda has one daughter, Violet, with her husband, whom she married in 2002.

"As you know I hate to air my laundry in public and never do but thought I should put something on here to dispel any bad rumours. I wish you and yours much love," she added.

Last week, the singer paid tribute to her cousin Finbarr Clabby, who tragically drowned in New Zealand.
