'We can actually begin our marriage' - Aoibhin Garrihy on husband John's anticipated return from Everest
It's a matter of weeks for Aoibhin Garrihy as she anticipates her husband John Burke's return from Mount Everest.
John, who Aoibhin travelled with to Everest Base Camp at the beginning of April, is due to return to Ireland at the beginning of June ahead of Aoibhin's 30th birthday.
"Life begins at 30 - we can actually begin our marriage!" said Aoibin in the latest issue of Irish Tatler.
It's been a busy start to the former Fair City star's life as a married woman since tying the knot in September, having made it to the final of Dancing With The Stars after 12 weeks of live shows from January until March before heading off to Nepal with John weeks later.
Since leaving John to continue his journey to reach the summit of Everest, Aoibhin says she's trying to keep herself busy on days when there's little communication and not focus on the level of risk undertaking the challenge brings.
"I stayed a night at Base Camp with John and all through the night you could hear the avalanches.
"It's a really strange place to be honest, it doesn't feel like humans should be there! But you can't hold back the tide - if someone wants to do something you have to let them do it," she said.
"I'm not going to be the witchy wife that says no, but at the same time, I'm sure he knows!"
