She's a veteran of the Irish showbiz scene, but panto queen Twink says she does not go around banging on doors looking for work.

The singer has made a number of TV appearances over the past few years, but has not returned to the stage since pulling out of the Limerick panto in 2014.

Twink, real name Adele King, has since poured her energy into her cake business and is known for making confectionery for her celeb mates.

"I've said it all my life - I never gave a rat's ass about it. When a gig comes up like on the telly and they ring, I'd say, 'Oh, yeah', but I'm not up banging their doors," she told the Herald.

"I never did it. They come looking for me, if something comes up. So I'm happy to go along with it.

"I'm not one of those artists that you open the fridge door and the light goes on and they perform for 20 minutes."

Meanwhile, the 64-year-old said she was bursting with pride when her daughter, Chloe Agnew - the former lead singer with Celtic Woman - performed solo at the National Concert Hall last week.

"I was saying to people afterwards that it was nights like this when I missed being up there on the bloody stage," she said.

"Chloe was just marvellous, and the night went by in such a blur.

"It was amazing, a really incredible night and I was so proud."
