TV3 star Elaine Crowley: 'A lot of guys are seduced by fame...my boyfriend doesn't care about what I do'
Elaine Crowley has no intention of putting her new man in the spotlight any time soon – and he’s more than happy to keep it that way.
The TV3 broadcaster has been in a relationship with a mystery man for over a year and said she won't be debuting her romance on the social scene.
In contrast to past relationship, the TV3 daytime host said in an interview with RSVP that past boyfriends became attracted to her for superficial reasons.
"A lot of guys over the years were very seduced by the fame, the TV life and the glamour of it all," she said.
"But they weren’t so interested in me on the couch on a Sunday morning in my pyjamas or with mascara all over my face.
"But that’s what real life is and a real relationship is, so it’s actually nice."
The Cork native admitted her boyfriend has no interest in her career on TV and they prefer a more
"He doesn’t give a damn what I do, that’s not what he cares about. Television just happens to be my job as far as he is concerned," she said.
While they have known each other for several years, they only started dating recently.
"I spend my life on television and am very exposed, it doesn’t mean he has to be," Elaine added.
The popular presenter, who is open about most aspects of her life was uncharacteristically coy when news broke of the new man in her life in early in 2016, but by October she began to share more about their relationship and described him as her "lobster".
After revealing she gained two stone ahead of her turn in Celebrity Operation Transformation due to nerves, she said her other half supported her through every step of the journey.
"He didn't even realise when I put on weight," she said, "he adores the bones off me."
