The pop singer had posted a video to Twitter just 14 hours before she was killed, encouraging fans to attend her show.

"Come out to the show tonight at the Plaza Live! Starts at 7:30," she excitedly told her followers.

The 22-year-old was blasted by a gunman minutes after coming off stage at The Plaza Live in Orlando, Florida, in the early hours of Saturday, Irish time.

Her brother tackled the gunman, who then shot himself dead, local police said.

Tributes poured in for the young singer from New Jersey, who finished third in the sixth series of the US version of the hit reality show in 2014.

She wowed the panel with her performance of Miley Cyrus’ Wrecking Ball and all four judges, including Adam Levine, Shakira, Usher and Blake Shelton, all turned their chairs for her, with Usher and Adam even giving her a standing ovation.

They entered a fierce bidding war to mentor the star, with Adam telling her: "You’re more comfortable up there than I am almost – and this is the point when you realise this person could be a huge star."
