He was once tipped as Hollywood's next big thing thanks to his starring role in Star Wars' most divisive trilogy, but Hayden Christensen hasn't exactly embraced the limelight.

The Canadian actor (35) starred as Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones and Episode III - Revenge of the Sith and all but left left Hollywood soon after the last film was released.

After the prequels finished in 2005, his most high profile role was in 2006's Jumper. The time-travelling action flick was universally panned, but one good thing came out of it - he met his long-term partner, actress Rachel Bilson.

That's right, Anakin Skywalker is in a relationship with Summer Roberts. And the couple have a three-year-old daughter Briar Rose.

Christensen consciously took time away from acting because he felt his career-defining role had been "a little too handed" to him and he wanted to focus on himself before trying his hand at Hollywood again.

"You can’t take years off and not have it affect your career. But I don’t know - in a weird, sort of destructive way there was something appealing about that to me," he told the LA Times.

"There was something in the back of my head that was like, 'If this time away is gonna be damaging to my career, then so be it. If I can come back afterwards and claw my way back in then maybe I’ll feel like I earned it.'"

Although he has tried to distance himself from his Darth Vadar association over the years, he made his first Star Wars Celebration appearance in 15 years at an event honouring 40 years of the saga.

He was greeted with a standing ovation and agreed to a meet-and-greet with fans. But his presence was brief: he only remained on stage for 10 minutes before mingling with fans.

Next up, the father-of-one stars opposite Bruce Willis in crime drama First Kill so it looks like his clawing may have worked.
