The man with the golden bun: Pierce Brosnan visits Dublin bakery
He may fight criminals all over the world, but 007 still shops locally for his own coffee and bread.
Pierce Brosnan – who is filming Hollywood blockbuster I.T. in Dublin – surprised workers at a Dun Laoghaire bakery when he took a keen interest in their produce.
In recent weeks the Hollywood actor (62) – who starred as James Bond from 1994 to 2005 – has been spending quality time here with his wife, Keely Shaye Smith (51), and their son.
Reymary Reyes was working in The Natural Bakery when Brosnan arrived.
“We were completely surprised, we didn’t know that he was coming,” she said.
Despite Brosnan’s efforts to keep a low profile he didn’t seem phased at being recognised.
“He was here like a normal customer, but he was wearing sunglasses – he didn’t want somebody to recognise him,” Ms Reyes told the Herald.
“My friend Gristell recognised him and said ‘He’s in James Bond!’ and I said ‘Yes he is, but that’s impossible for him to be here.’
Then we asked him and he said ‘Yes I was’.”
Brosnan posed for pictures with the workers, but not before jokingly saying he would have to ask for permission from his wife and son.
The staff at the Dun Laoghaire branch of the Natural Bakery were delighted at the chance to be ‘Bond Girls’ for the day.
The Meath actor ordered two cappuccinos and an americano and expressed great interest in the bakery’s famously fresh bread.
Before he left Brosnan praised the staff for their helpfulness and even left a generous tip.
