Spotted: Pippa Middleton and new husband James Matthews enjoy friend's wedding in Co Cork
Pippa Middleton - the sister of the Duchess of Cambridge - was in Co Cork yesterday to see her friend tie the knot.
Camilla Campion-Awwad wed her long-term partner, Oliver Jenkinson, at a low-key ceremony in Glengarriff.
It was a fairytale homecoming for the Campion family. Camilla's mother Constance has roots in Glengarriff and locals said this played a key part in the bride and groom's choice for the wedding venue.
The newlyweds played host to Pippa and her multimillionaire husband James Matthews, who flew in from their month-long honeymoon for the occasion.
It rounded off a busy few weeks for college friends Pippa and Camilla, who read literature together at Edinburgh University and have since remained close.
Camilla kept her husband-to-be waiting and arrived at the small, picturesque Sacred Heart Church fashionably late just after 3.30pm.
London's elite descended on the tiny coastal village from last Friday evening for the low-key affair.
Many guests booked accommodation in the hotels, B&Bs and guest houses in and around the village. It was reported that Pippa and James had planned to stay in nearby Kenmare. Instead they opted for Eccles Hotel on the outskirts of Glengarriff, a stone's throw from the wedding reception venue at Derrycreha House - a plush 19th-century mansion overlooking the waterfront in Glengarriff.
The famous couple socialised with friends in the village last Friday night, much to the delight of many excited young locals, who took photographs and selfies with them.
But some older residents struggled to comprehend what all of the fuss was about. "Sure, we have weddings here three or four times a week," said one shopkeeper. "I don't see why people buy into it at all."
Many of the guests rose early yesterday morning for breakfast before descending on the hotel bars around the village to watch the British and Irish Lions beat New Zealand.
After jetting in from their own month-long honeymoon, Pippa and her new husband appeared smitten as they strolled through the village hand-in-hand. They chatted with friends about the Lions' win and waved to passing locals but chose not to speak publicly about their friends' big day.
Camilla is the daughter of Jordanian-born plastic surgeon Awwad M Awwad. Her mother, Constance Campion Awwad, is a leading expert in medical beauty treatments and together with her husband runs a plastic surgery practice in London.
Camilla worked in the City of London after completing university but now works with her parents in the family business.
She and her new husband are expected to set off on a luxury honeymoon in the coming days.
