Matthew Knowles, Beyoncé's former manager, says Solange's album sales have also gone up 200 per cent.

The Beyoncé and Jay Z ‘divorce’ rumour mill has been working at serious speed the last few months after CCTV footage of her sister lashing out at the rapper was leaked in May – but was it all deliberately staged to sell tour tickets?

Beyoncé’s father, Mathew Knowles, spoke about the lift scandal to a radio show earlier this week, calling it a “Jedi mind trick”.

“I know, because we’ve done this. From experience, there’s a tour going on,” he told the Roula & Ryan show on Houston station KRBE,

“Sometimes ignite that tour. It’s called a Jedi mind trick. The Jedi mind trick fools you a lot of times. So things you see are sometimes *makes magic explosion sound*.”

The host quizzed Knowles on his incredible claims, asking Beyoncé’s former manager whether the footage of Solange hitting Jay Z in a lift was something that they “wanted to get out there”.

Knowles replies: “All I know is the Jedi mind trick. Everyone’s talking about it. Ticket sales went up. Solange’s album sales went up 200 per cent.”

He then finished off that somewhat revealing interview with the suggestion that another Destiny’s Child album is in the works.

Que? We’ve only been waiting a decade.

If we were to get even more Jedi mind trick about it – what if Knowles’ ‘wink wink nudge nude’ revelation was in fact a double-bluff from the Beyoncé camp?

After all, it’s not as if one of the greatest female performers our time has seen needs to drum up publicity for her tour, is it?

Beyoncé and Jay Z have had to bat away rumours of marriage problems for some years, though these were exacerbated in May when Solange attacked Jay Z in a lift at the Standard Hotel in New York.

The trio were leaving an afterparty for the 2014 Met Gala Ball when the incident took place, with the video leaked by a security guard to TMZ for a substantial sum.
