It was a historic victory and the Irish squad and their WAGs commemorated the win with non-stop 'selfie' photographs.

Prop Cian Healy got the ball rolling on Thursday evening by mimicking Ellen DeGeneres' world-famous Oscar selfie when he tweeted a picture of the squad about to take off from Dublin Airport.

But the selfie machine went into overdrive when the team took home the title.

Healy tweeted a picture of the jubilant team crowded around the Six Nations trophy. His girlfriend, model Holly Carpenter, responded with a picture of several supportive spouses huddled around mum-to-be Laura Sexton.

"Finally! WAGs and Laura Sexton's beautiful baby bump," she wrote next to it.

Carpenter later posted a picture of Gordan D'Arcy's wife Aoife Cogan, Amy Huberman, and Dave Kearney's girlfriend Hayley Ryan in the stands.

Back in the locker room, the Kearney brothers and Paul O'Connell took several selfies with Brian O'Driscoll.

Then it was on board the bus, where the squad documented Jonny Sexton shaving Gordan D'Arcy's glorious beard.

The following morning, O'Driscoll posted a photo of himself and a cleanly shaven D'Arcy "rolling back the years".

The team celebrated in style in Paris with the party continuing on Sunday evening.

"Round Two," Holly Carpenter wrote beside a picture of the WAGs drinking plastic tumblers of rose aboard an Aer Lingus flight back to Dublin.
