Broadcaster Maia Dunphy has returned to work mere weeks after welcoming her first child, and she likens the tiredness to 'torture'.
The 39-year-old tv presenter and her husband Johnny Vegas welcomed their baby Tom on July 21st.
Now that she is jumping back into her hectic work schedule, the new mum is experiencing extreme sleep deprivation.
Maia told the RTE Guide that she is permanently "shattered" and perpetually in a "sleep fog".
"I'm usually pretty good with no sleep but this is a different level," the RTE presenter said.
"It's Guantanamo Bay-level, you know, I'm lying awake at four in the morning. I tend to be stuck for words these days, yawning all the time. I love routines, but the baby goes, 'No, no, no, not going to happen on my watch, pal!'"
As Tom is the Dublin native's first child with her husband of four years, Maia admitted said she never realised how little spare time she had before he arrived.
"To be honest, I was a bit naive beforehand. I'm meant to be writing a book and am plugging these two shows, so I thought I'd take five weeks off, come back to Dublin and everything would be fine."
"I now see there's a reason why people take three months off. But...we're getting there," she admitted.
